According to Malay Mail, the canal cuts 560km off the trade route between China and ASEAN.3
A new container shipping route connecting Nanning Port in Guangxi to Cai Cui Port in Can Tho, the largest city in Vietnam's Mekong Delta, has begun operating via the canal.2
