What happened

An air strike in Sudan killed a UN aid truck driver, with the UN's World Food Programme saying the trucks were "clearly marked as humanitarian vehicles," according to Al Jazeera English.1

According to Anadolu Agency, citing the Sudan Doctors Network, drone strikes attributed to the RSF killed four civilians in South Kordofan, in attacks that targeted the city of Dilling.2

Drone strikes on a university dormitory and a shelter for displaced families in El-Obeid, North Kordofan, killed at least 10 people, Arab News reported.3

The El-Obeid strikes occurred amid intensified fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces in North Kordofan.3

What the coverage leaves out

  • None of the outlets reviewed identified who carried out the air strike that killed the UN aid truck driver.
  • None of the outlets reviewed reported a response from the RSF or the Sudanese army to these specific incidents.
  • None of the outlets reviewed clarified whether the South Kordofan and North Kordofan strikes are connected or part of the same military operation.
  • Two of the three sources, Al Jazeera English and Anadolu Agency, are state-controlled outlets from the same region, which limits independent corroboration of their accounts.
