What happened

In an interview with CNN, Qatari Prime Minister al-Thani said Israel is acting in opposition to the US-brokered Gaza peace plan for the gain of Prime Minister Netanyahu, calling Netanyahu the biggest obstacle to fulfilling the plan.12

Al-Thani also addressed allegations tied to Israel's so-called "Qatargate" scandal, calling them absurd and saying funding such a scheme would have been the worst investment Qatar could have made.2

Separately, Qatar's Foreign Ministry spokesman said continuing rhetoric against Qatar, following a related allegation from Netanyahu at the UN, was an attempt to divert attention from what he described as atrocities committed by Israel.3
